According to reports, three Baton Rouge police officers have been killed by gunfire near police headquarters Sunday morning.
On Sunday morning, near police officer headquarters in Baton Rouge, La., 3 police officers have been confirmed dead, and several others injured, after being shot upon. According to The Advocate newspaper, the deaths have been confirmed by William Daniel, the city-parish’s chief administrative officer.
According to WBRZ-TV, a man dressed in all black with his face covered walked out between a convenience store and car wash across from Hammond Air Plaza. The area between the police department’s headquarters and Interstate 12 have now been closed.

Kip Holden, the mayor-president of East Baton Rouge Parish, said authorities were still trying to assess the situation, but added, “The count is three officers dead possibly.”

A manhunt for the shooter is now underway in Baton Rouge. The shooting comes on the heels of Alton Sterling’s funeral that was held earlier this week. Sterling was killed by two Baton Rouge police officers on July 5, 2016.
