A teen suicide bombers targeted worshipers at a mosque in Nigeria, killing at least 50 people, authorities reported on Tuesday.
The teen boy detonated his explosives in the crowd that had gathered at around 5:20 a.m. for morning prayers in the northeastern town of Mubi.
Authorities say that they are “still trying to ascertain the number of injured because they are in various hospitals,” police spokesperson Othman Abubakar told the Associated Press.
While no one has claimed responsibility for the bombing, however the terrorist group Boko Haram is being eyed as a suspect in the case, and has been blamed for several similar attacks.
As the AP notes, the sick and twisted extremist group has been using teenagers and young women – many of whom have been abducted – as bombers.
