The younger brother of accused Florida high school shooter Nikolas Cruz was arrested Monday for trespassing on the grounds of the school where 17 people were killed, authorities said.
Zachary Cruz, 18, rode his skateboard through the Marjory Stoneman Douglas campus in Parkland despite being warned to stay away from the school, according to his arrest report.
Cruz told Broward County sheriff’s deputies he went to the campus because he wanted to “reflect on the school shooting and soak it in,” the report says.
He previously attended the high school with his brother, Nikolas.
Nikolas Cruz was indicted on 34 counts of premeditated murder and attempted murder in the shooting massacre that killed 17 and wounded 17 others on Feb. 14. Prosecutors intend to seek the death penalty against Cruz.
Lynda and Roger Cruz adopted the two brothers when they were infants. Lynda, their mother, died from pneumonia in November and their father died years ago.
Zachary Cruz underwent a mental health evaluation because he wanted to harm himself after the shootings, according to the Palm Beach Post.
He said he felt guilty the massacre happened and regretted bullying Nikolas with his friends, CNN reported.
