Houston police officer tells woman to put hands up and ‘pretend like we’re going to shoot you’ David Boroff

A Houston police officer was caught on video telling a woman during a traffic stop to put her hands up and “pretend like we’re going to shoot you.”

The video, obtained by Storyful, shows police ordering four people out of a vehicle off Tidwell Road in Houston on Saturday.

An officer can be heard saying over the loudspeaker, “Hands up! Put your hands up. Over your head! Pretend like we’re going to shoot you.”

A Houston police official told the Daily News on Monday that the department is aware of the video and is looking into it.

“I was so scared I didn’t know how it was going to end,” Denee Harris, who shot the video, told Storyful.

During the traffic stop an officer took away crutches belonging to a passenger, and cops were seen driving the vehicle away from the scene, according to Storyful.

It is not clear why the vehicle was stopped.

Randall Kallinen, a Houston lawyer who handles many excessive force cases, says the officer’s behavior in the video appears to be “highly unprofessional.”

“One of the problems with that is that it could cause a person to act different than they normally act,” he told the Daily News on Monday.

Kallinen, who does not represent the person in the video, believes that the Houston Police Department has a history of not punishing excessive force, and thereby encourages and condones it.
