A woman was hospitalized with a skull fracture after a man attacked her as she walked to her Upper West Side home, authorities said Thursday.
The 37-year-old victim was dropped off by an Uber driver on Central Park West and W. 83rd St. at about 11 p.m. Wednesday and was walking to her home when a stranger grabbed her and threw her to the ground.
The suspect tried to take off her clothes, but the woman fought back, possibly injuring him, police sources said.
A nearby doorman saw the attack and ran over, scaring off the attacker, who was last seen running down Central Park West.
The woman was brought to an area hospital for treatment, police said.
The Manhattan Special Victims Squad is investigating the assault as an attempted rape.
