An armed robber choked a Harlem man into unconsciousness as he tried to steal the man’s cell phone from his hand, shocking surveillance video shows.
The robber, who wore an “R.I.P. Youth t-shirt,” stalked the victim into the stairwell of his building on W. 147th St. building near Amsterdam Ave. at about 9:50 p.m. Friday.
He pulled a gun and grabbed the 23-year-old man from behind.
When the victim tried to escape, the suspect pointed the gun at his head and then put the victim in a sleeper hold.
The victim dropped his phone and then goes limp as he’s throttled into unconsciousness.
The robber then grabbed the victim’s phone, wallet, backpack and $1,000, and ran away.
Police said the robbery victim’s neck was bruised, but he didn’t need to go to a hospital.
Cops describe the robber as dark-skinned, with a beard and mustache, wearing black sunglasses and a back backpack.
His t-shirt reads “R.I.P. Youth” on the front, and has a graphic of a tombstone and an upside down house on the back.
